Exhibition stands
Height, rigging and second storeys are solved in metal. Aluminium profiles build fast and clean; steel needs calculation and paperwork for the organiser.

Metal is the part of a stand nobody sees and everything rests on. Timber gives the surface, metal holds it up. The moment you want height, something hung from the roof, or a second storey, the job moves to metal.
Aluminium profile systems are designed to be taken apart and rebuilt; the structure of a reusable stand is usually aluminium. Steel is the load-bearing option, the one that gets calculated and documented.
Metalwork runs in parallel with joinery and meets it at assembly. If the two do not come from the same drawing, the panel lands where the profile already is.

Metal is chosen for load and reuse rather than for looks. A stand that will be dismantled and rebuilt is solved with a profile system; a one-off mass or a frame carrying a second storey calls for steel. The split below is the frame for that decision.

Anything hung from the roof needs permission, and the application has its own deadline. Weight, fixing points and hanging height are declared to the organiser, and no crane moves in the hall before approval. Venues such as Messe Düsseldorf set the procedure out in their technical regulations.
Double-deckers also require structural calculations signed by an engineer. Permission for a second storey depends on hall height and floor loading; if it is refused, the layout is solved on one level. The site side of this is on the installation page.

How parts are joined decides how long a stand lasts. Points that stay put are welded; points meant to come apart are bolted. Which is which is marked on the drawing rather than settled on site. On welded surfaces the joints are ground back before painting, because an unground weld line appears the moment accent light hits it.
The surface is either anodised or painted. Anodising leaves the texture of the metal and resists scratching, which suits parts that are handled and rebuilt at every fair. Paint gives the colour you ask for but wants a touch-up on edges that take knocks. Where metal meets timber there is a decision too: the line is either concealed or shown deliberately, and anything in between reads as untidy.
The third question is the section. The same span can be crossed two ways; the heavier section feels safe and adds both weight and packed volume. On work going abroad weight and volume are cost, so the section is settled together with the freight plan.

No. A second storey depends on the organiser permission, hall height and floor loading. The technical regulations are read before design starts.
We prepare the calculations and drawings and, where required, submit them to the organiser with an engineer sign-off. The approval period goes into the schedule from the start.
