Exhibition stand sizes: standard plot dimensions and what fits

Lokman Türkoğlu · Founder & Head of Design · 3 min read · Last updated:

The stand after installation, before the fair opened: quality and experience messages on the fascia and an illuminated product-panel welcome counter at the front.

Short answer

How are exhibition stand sizes set?

The size of an exhibition stand is set by the organiser’s plot module; in Türkiye and Europe the module is a 3-metre square. The smallest plot is 9 square metres (3x3); common sizes are 12 (3x4), 18 (3x6), 36 (6x6), 54 (6x9) and 100 square metres. Height is limited to between 2.5 and 4 metres in most halls. What fits on a stand is decided not by square metres but by the number of open sides and the meeting need: 9 square metres carries one product and one meeting point; 36 carries a product area, seated meetings and a closed compartment.
